My friends at Team Mom sent this very cool K'NEX Cookie Monster toy for the kids to play with. I was pretty hesitant to let them open it up because I think we all know what happens when you give five children, one toy, with small pieces... It's mayhem. All I could picture in my head was pieces of blue cookie monster flying across our playroom.
Jon however, took one look at the adorable canister that the toy is packaged in and decided it needed to be opened. We had just returned home from an impromptu trip to our local Emergency Room, while he was trying to get me comfortable and making me some tea to get me feeling (and breathing) better. Jon had a field day putting Cookie together and then trotting him around our kitchen table... He also mentioned that while it was perfectly practical to put the pieces back in the canister to store it, why not put cookies in it instead!! We love things with multi-uses.
When I came down late the following morning, Cookie had disappeared off of the table. When the kidlets emerged later in the day, they presented me with many pieces of our furry blue friend... When we finally found all 15 pieces of him, we put him back together as a family.
I was really thrilled with the K'NEX Sesame Street Building Set. I think my kids are still possibly a little behind the curve when it comes to toys like this, so some of the novelty might have gotten lost in the translation. However, when I sat down one on one with William and showed him how it all worked, he totally understood. The upside, was absolutely the cuteness factor! We love Sesame Street here in our house so Cookie Monster really went over well. Another positive was definitely the canister that the pieces came in, we are currently using it as a mini cookie jar! The downside, five kids, one toy. I really need to invest in all seven sets. You need to go check them all out, they're the cutest things EVER. I'm running out tomorrow to get the Abby Cadabby one, because I'm crazy like that.
