SuperStahhhhh!!
Boogie Superstar that is.
When we invested in our Wii gaming system a few months back, I was so excited about all
the gaming possibilites. It seemed like the choices were endless... However we've been in a bit of a Wii rut. We play guitar hero nearly every chance we get, and while I'm in NO way complaining about that, it's always nice to step outside the box, you know?
When Parent Bloggers Network asked if we would kindly take a gander at the EA game, Wii Boogie Superstar, I jumped at the chance. A new game for the repertoire!! Yippee!!
The box arrived all shiny and new, a microphone boldy displayed in the front panel of the box. No sooner did I see the microphone, did I get a bit of stage fright. Who did I think I was?? Joan Jett?? I can't sing!! Dancing is a thing of the past... There was NO way I was sidling up to my tv and getting my groove on with this puppy...
So I did the next best thing... I called my best friends son Josh. He fell perfectly into the marketed age range for the Boogie Superstar. He's also a singing and dancing fool and I knew this was right up his alley... After he eagerly accepted his mission of reviewing this product, he got to work... All the while the adults sat by and tried to read the directions on where to plug the microphone into the Wii... While we assumed that we must need to attach it somehow to the Wii box itself, there was no clearcut instruction on how. I scratched my head a few times as to why this blessed mic was not wireless, afterall we were playing with Wii, the Wireless Wonder. Josh's Dad finally got it all hooked up and we watched as Josh was able to maneuver
through with ease setting up some of the COOLEST looking characters ever... They were young, they were hip, they were cool... They looked kind of like me really :) In any regard that part was totally fun, and I've actually since gone back and fiddled around with it.
When it came to the dancing and singing it was really cool that there were options. We were able to watch Josh dance, watch him sing, OR watch him dance and sing... And if we'd had another microphone we could have had a duet thing going on! The singing portion was really very cool, and in my opinion geared towards the younger set. I only recognized a few of the 40 plus songs on the playlist, it did make me feel a bit old. Josh however knew pretty much all of them and was able to sing right along... Dancing was a whole other story... He said that he definitely favored the singing over the dancing because it was just easier. I had to agree, watching him try to throw his arm around his head like a lasso all the while singing? It was all I could do to not get dizzy. And I was sitting down.
There were a few downsides to the game. Like I mentioned earlier, the mic not being wireless was a bummer. The cord is plenty long however, and gives you a ton of room to move. Also in regard to the Microphone, it was a shame that the Mic wasn't one that could be used with all the other games for Wii. Guitar Hero Rock Band needs a Mic too, it would be so very cool if all of these companies could get together and make this stuff interchangeable so that I dont have a million repetitive pieces. Lastly, the song choices were fun, upbeat, and very catchy, but possibly a little inappropriate for the younger crowd. Just my thought.
All in all, very fun game, and I'm sure during the cold of these winter nights, it's going to end up on my TV again... I'll make a video, I promise.

I definitely want to see song add ons in the future for this game. Maybe some younger crowd games, and some for us old farts too -lol- someone mentioned Avril Levigne is in there, but I haven't seen it yet. If I can get the boys to share later I'm going to look around and see where she's at.

Yes, yes, yes! A video of you singing and dancing would be quite entertaining! You promise? Really? Or even one of Jon singing and dancing would rank right up there in the best entertainment I've had all month. But, YOU, singing and dancing? That would just break all entertainment barriers! I wait with eager anticipations! LOL (ok, ok, so if its just the kids, that would be enjoyable, too.)

I highly recommend Mario Kart for the family, too. You can battle each other or just run races. It's family friendly and almost every kid enjoys it.
